Engineering Manager
We are seeking an Engineering Manager who will play a key role in shaping, guiding, and growing our engineering team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for driving the engineering team forward daily and working cross-functionally to provide technical expertise to other departments. You will partner closely with and report directly to the VP of Engineering.
Responsibilities
- Partner with the VP of Engineering to lead and manage a team of high-performing full-stack engineers, including hiring, training, and performance management
- Serve as the day-to-day engineering leader and technical expert while providing technical guidance and mentorship
- Assist with daily decision-making, ensuring team members are consistently unblocked
- Lead architecture and code reviews as well as get hands-on in code development and deployment when appropriate and necessary
- Assume responsibility for application support and immediate response to production issues as they arise
- Answer questions and resolve issues brought forth by engineering team members
- Partner with other departments, including product management and design, to set product priorities, define project requirements, shape solutions, and develop overall concepts for new product features and changes
- Work closely with other key stakeholders (e.g., marketing and customer success) to drive the development of features that maximize business impact and solve customer problems and frustrations
- Plan and allocate resources to meet project deadlines and objectives
- Spearhead various research initiatives to identify opportunities for new projects and improved processes
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement within the engineering team as we grow
- Partner with the VP of Engineering to develop and implement engineering processes and best practices to ensure velocity, efficiency, and quality
Must-haves
- Experience leading and managing engineering teams delivering SaaS software (full stack teams preferable)
- Experience making product decisions and/or working closely with a Product Manager to make product decisions
- Significant and proven experience as an individual contributor
- Knowledge of Ruby on Rails
- Ability to think carefully and weigh complex tradeoffs with an eye toward long-term product success and business goals
- History of explicit, clear, and detailed written and verbal communication
- Based in USA
Nice-to-haves
- Knowledge of the social media and/or marketing tech landscape
- Experience working with React and Redux
- Knowledge of DevOps, infrastructure, and AWS
