Instagram Product Tags let people view details for products shown in an image. In Loomly, you can add those tags while preparing an eligible Instagram image post, so the product information is attached before the post is published.
Who can use Instagram Product Tags in Loomly?
Product tagging is available in Loomly for images on an Instagram Business account with an Instagram shop. Loomly's current requirements also specify that Facebook and Instagram checkout must be enabled. Creator and Personal accounts are not eligible for this Product Tags workflow.
Keep these limits in mind before building the post:
- Product Tags are available for Instagram images, not video-only content.
- You can add up to five products.
- The products shown in Loomly come from the shop and catalog connected to the eligible Business account.
If the account is connected to Loomly by username rather than through its associated Facebook Page, use a reminder to publish manually. A page-connected professional account is required for direct publishing features.
How to add Product Tags in Loomly
- Create a post in your Loomly calendar and select Instagram.
- Add the image or images you want to publish. Make sure the product is clearly visible in the image before you start tagging.
- Open the Fine-tune Content panel for Instagram.
- Select the gear icon on the image you want to edit to open its attachment settings.
- Select Tag Products.
- Click the point on the image where the tag should appear, search for the product, select it, and press Enter.
- Repeat for other products or images as needed, up to the five-product limit.
- Save the attachment settings, review the Instagram version of the post, then schedule it or send it through your usual approval process.
Choose products and tag placement carefully
Product Tags work best when the tag answers a simple question: which item in this image is this? Tag the item that is actually shown, and position the tag close enough to the product to be unambiguous without covering a face, logo, or important text.
For a multi-product image, decide which items matter most before adding tags. The five-product maximum is a product constraint, not a target. Use fewer tags when that makes the image easier to understand.
Write the caption to support the tag
A Product Tag can identify an item, but the caption should provide the context a buyer needs. Explain what is new, how the item is used, or what distinguishes the options pictured. If the image contains several products, name the collection or call out the products that are not tagged.
Review the caption and tag placement together in the Instagram preview. A clear caption is especially useful when a tag is small or when the product appears alongside props, packaging, or other merchandise.
Why the Tag Products option may be unavailable
First, confirm that you selected an Instagram image and that the Instagram account is a Business account, not a Creator or Personal account. Then verify that the Business account has an Instagram shop and meets the checkout requirements above.
If the account or shop was recently changed, reconnect the account through its associated Facebook Page and confirm that the connected shop catalog is available. If the option is still missing, contact Loomly Support with the affected calendar and Instagram account so the connection can be checked.
