Use RSS Feeds as a Content Source

RSS is a web-feed format that provides updates from a website. In Loomly, connect an RSS feed to a calendar and choose whether its entries become Post Ideas or Draft Posts.

An RSS feed can come from a site you manage or another website. The selected RSS option determines how Loomly imports entries from that feed.

RSS feeds are configured per calendar. Choose the calendar before adding the feed because its Post Ideas or Draft Posts are created in that calendar.

Add an RSS Feed

  1. Open Calendar Settings for the calendar where you want to use the feed.
  2. Open the Post Ideas tab.
  3. In the RSS Feeds section, select Add.
  4. Enter the RSS feed URL and choose an option.
  5. Select Save RSS feeds.

After you save the feed, return to the RSS Feeds section whenever you need to review the connected feed and its selected option.

Choose an RSS Option

The RSS Feeds section provides two options:

  • RSS Post Ideas: Generate Post Ideas from RSS entries.
  • Assistive (Draft Posts): Automatically create Draft Posts from RSS entries.

RSS Post Ideas

Select RSS Post Ideas when you want RSS entries to be imported as Post Ideas in the calendar. This keeps the feed entry in the Post Ideas workflow rather than creating a Draft Post from it.

Use this option for a feed whose entries you want to work with as Post Ideas. The feed can be from a site you manage or from another website.

Assistive Draft Posts

Select Assistive (Draft Posts) when you want RSS entries to create Draft Posts in the calendar. Open a Draft Post in Post Builder to review the imported content before making further changes.

Use this option when a Draft Post is the appropriate starting point for the RSS entries connected to the calendar.

Examples

For example, connect a feed from a site you manage and choose the option that fits how you want to handle its entries. You can also connect a feed from another website and choose either RSS Post Ideas or Assistive (Draft Posts).

Check the Import Limit

RSS feeds import up to 90 posts or ideas in a rolling 30-day window. After the limit is reached, new RSS entries are not imported until fewer than 90 posts or ideas were imported in the previous 30 days.
